In addition to conventional transactions, the real estate team has extensive experience in sale and leaseback transactions, ground leases, development and financing transactions, tax-free exchanges, and property and asset management issues. We handle all types of commercial projects, including office buildings, retail centers, hotels, mixed-use developments, and industrial properties.
The real estate team also provides a full range of services to condominium and homeowner’s associations and cooperatives. We organize and reorganize these associations, and serve as trusted counsel in the often-complex management of their affairs.
We carefully shepherd individual clients through all aspects of residential transactions and ownership issues. Our team has handled some of the largest residential transactions in Connecticut, and we bring that experience to bear on every engagement. In addition to sales, purchases, and leases, we also represent homeowners and contractors in connection with residential construction and renovation projects.
The real estate team provides clients with integrated legal services by partnering with our colleagues across Whitman Breed’s departments. We work with our litigation department on commercial tax appeals, in which we have obtained millions of dollars in tax relief for clients; land use matters, including applications and appeals; and real estate contract disputes, leasing disputes, title disputes, and construction disputes. Our business law team assists with complex financing transactions. And we ensure our individual clients’ transactions are structured in accordance with their estate-planning goals.
